Allergen matrix for restaurants, pubs and cafés

Usually an evening in a spreadsheet, going through every recipe, and out of date at the next menu change. With Platick, about 20 minutes for a typical menu.

  • Platick's AI reads your menu from a photo or PDF.
  • Check each dish once, on a laptop or phone.
  • Print a fresh matrix whenever your menu changes.

An example

An allergen matrix is a grid of your dishes against the 14 allergens. Making one is quick. The hard part is keeping it right every time the menu changes.

Four dishes from The Fork & Field, a made-up venue, as Platick prints them.

How Platick builds it

Upload, check, print. Guests see the same on their phones.

  1. Here's what we found: a menu's sections and dishes, each with a drag handle and arrows to move it

    Upload your menu

You upload your menu and Platick's AI suggests allergens for each dish.

  2. The dish-checking screen on a desktop: the whole dinner menu down the left, and Prawn cocktail open with its 14 allergens, the AI's suggestions marked and an I've checked all 14 button

    Check each dish

A person on your team checks all 14 for every dish and confirms it with "I've checked all 14".

  3. The QR and print page: the venue's QR code with its link, and a list of free printables with the logo and colour

    Print your matrix

QR & print makes the allergen matrix as a PDF for one menu or all menus, with the date, the name of the person who printed it and a QR code to the latest version.

  4. A guest's phone showing an allergen menu with eggs and peanuts ticked and the dishes that declare them marked

    Online for guests

Guests see the same confirmed information on their phones by scanning one QR code.

Menus change. The folder doesn't.

A recipe changes, a supplier swaps a sauce, a new chef starts. Who updated the allergen matrix? Who checked it?

Questions

What is an allergen matrix?

A grid with one row for each dish and one column for each of the 14 allergens, marked to show which allergens a dish contains or may contain.

How long does it take to make one with Platick?

About 20 minutes for a typical menu of about 40 dishes, checked in one sitting with the AI's suggestions. Bigger menus take longer. We'll set up your first menu for you. Free. Start your free trial and add your payment details, then send us your menu within the first 7 days. We'll load it in. You check and confirm the allergens. One first menu per business.

Can you set it up for me?

How does Platick keep the allergen matrix up to date?

It prints the matrix from the dishes your team has confirmed. If a confirmed dish's allergens change, it shows "Being re-checked · ask staff" until someone checks all 14 again. Each print has the date, the name of the person who printed it and a QR code to the latest version.

What do the symbols mean?

Every matrix has the same key: ● contains, ○ may contain, and w means the dish can be made without that allergen. A blank cell means the venue hasn't marked that allergen.

Can I print one for each menu?

Yes. In QR & print, choose one menu or all menus. Each print shows the date and the name of the person who printed it.

Is AI deciding my allergens?

No. It suggests; your team checks all 14 for every dish and confirms.

Who is responsible for the allergen information?

Your venue. Your team checks and confirms every dish; Platick shows what you confirm.

Can guests see it on their phones?

Yes. Guests scan your QR code to open your allergen menu, which shows the same confirmed allergens for each dish. They can tick what they avoid to see which dishes declare it.

Do I need a card to start?

Yes. Nothing is taken for 14 days, we email you 3 days before your trial ends, and you can cancel any time from Billing.

What is the free template?

A blank A4 allergen matrix PDF with the 14 allergen columns, the same key as Platick's printed matrix and 20 empty rows. Download it and fill it in by hand; no sign-up needed.
